Troubleshooting

Common errors and how to fix them.

METAR stale or missing

The airport may not have issued an observation recently (closed, regional, local outage). Cross-check on aviationweather.gov. The yellow/red 'STALE' badge flags data > 3h / > 6h.

SIGMET map empty or 403 error

SIGMETs are Pro-only. Free users see a placeholder. If you just upgraded the dashboard may flash 403 for a few seconds until Apple confirms the transaction to the backend — retry within 5–10 seconds.

Push notifications not arriving

  • iOS Settings > AvioWeather > Notifications: must be 'Allow'
  • In-app Settings > Notifications: the specific category must be on
  • Open a rule: must be active (green chip) and not expired
  • Press 'Test push' in Settings to verify the delivery channel

Session expired / sudden logout

The JWT token expires after about 24 hours. When you get a 401 you're sent back to login. There's no automatic refresh-token yet — just log in again, your favourites stay synced.

App updates and forced upgrades

AvioWeather occasionally rolls out new versions with important fixes or new features. When an update is available you'll see a dismissible prompt inviting you to update from the App Store. During a grace period you can dismiss the prompt and keep using the app; once the grace period ends the update becomes mandatory and you must install it before accessing the app. This keeps you on a version compatible with the backend services and safety-relevant features.
